The Break Restaurant


2020.12.18 – The Break was set up during the Christmas season of 2020. In the midst of chaos and hopelessness due to the pandemic, we are here to provide a place for our customers to enjoy good honest food (made from scratch). We believe in homemade sauces and food. Delicious, yet hearty. Food brings people together, and a good place to throw private functions and events at The Break too.

The Break is a neighbourhood restaurant created to destress and enjoy honest, good food. Our menu is meticulously curated with you in mind. Dine and chill with us because you matter the most. We are a pork-free Western restaurant located in Bandar Mahkota Cheras. 


We have a simple menu with options of beef, lamb, chicken and fish alongside our soups and salads. Our signature dish is the Grilled Chicken Chop. Although this dish may seem common, we guarantee a unique experience at The Break.

For health-conscious folks, we got you covered with our best-seller, the Cheesy Broccoli Salad – a big bowl full of goodness and greens topped with cheese and activated nuts.

Fun fact: What are activated nuts? The nuts and seeds served here are washed and have gone through a process of activation, in which the nuts and seeds are soaked with Pink Himalayan Salt then dehydrated after that. This process takes a minimum of two days. Why is this process important? This will lower the phytic acid in the nuts and seeds for better absorption of nutrients and easier digestion. We are partnering with Life House Wellness for providing us their activated nuts and seeds.

Tea-rific people are welcome to come to enjoy a pot of tea from our special tea selections only found here in Malaysia. We offer a wide variety of drinks, hot and cold. Our drinks include various flavors of infused water, kombucha, and thirst quenchers.

The founders, Michael, David, and myself, are three like-minded graduates from Taylors University, School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Tourism. On top of that, we share a common working experience at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre for an internship program under an MOU between the prestigious venue provider and the university. Soon after graduation, I continued as an event coordinator in KLCC, whereas, Michael and David worked at café, hotels, and restaurants respectively.  

With an appetite for good honest food, we whipped out a plan to start something of our own. A quality and value-for-money menu was created. Thus, The Break was born.

Drop by if ever you’re in the mood for something light like a delicious salad or something heavier like Pan-Seared Fish Fillet. I assure you, eating at The Break is a new experience each and every time.
